Join us for an epic adventure in the very heart of the Yosemite High Country. This 7.4 mile (round trip) trail takes you through pristine lodgepole pine forests and Alpine meadows to the edge of the timberline! Hike to the top of Mono Pass and get unforgettable views looking east beyond the park boundary. This trip places you on the crest of the Sierra Nevada, one of the nation’s most inaccessible and rugged mountain ranges.
Be prepared for a full day of hiking surrounded by peaks like Mount Gibbs, Mount Dana and Kuna Peak, all with elevations over 13,000 feet! This is a strenuous 5 hour hike that tops out at an elevation of 10,600 feet. Bring your hiking boots and camera for an unforgettable High Sierra experience.
TRIP TIME
8:30am-5:30pm
GROUP SIZE
Up to 9 participants. 2 person minimum. Reservations recommended. Contact Recreation Desk for availability and pricing for groups of 10 or more.
PRICE
$225 per person, age 12 and up. Includes transportation, naturalist guide, trekking pole rental, and lunch voucher for use in our General Store. Additional $20 park admission fee per adult (waived for Yosemite Annual Pass or America the Beautiful Pass holders).
DIFFICULTY/AGE LIMIT
Participants should be comfortable hiking up to 7.4 miles on varied terrain at elevations between 9,700 and 10,600 feet. The trip is suitable for fit people ages 12 and up.
MEETING PLACE
All trips meet in the Recreation Center 15 minutes before departure.
WHAT TO BRING
• Completed trip registration forms
• Small backpack with at least 3 liters water and snacks
• Proper footwear–tennis shoes or hiking boots; water resistant hiking boots required for early season hiking
• Layered clothing including wind/rain jacket (High Country weather can be unpredictable and may include afternoon thunderstorms and wind)
• Bug repellant, sunscreen, hat and sunglasses
• Camera and binoculars (optional)
OTHER INFORMATION
• Our first-aid-certified guides carry first aid kits, permits, maps, radios/cell phones, and water filters
• Guide gratuity is not included; for exemplary service, a 10-20% tip is customary
