WILDFLOWERS AND WATERFALLS
Offered in April
Join us for an amazing hike through one of the most heavily flowered areas in the Park. We will also see several waterfalls along the way, as our trail makes crossings over the steep and beautiful Cane Creek. The trail we will follow is Old Foresta Road, which gave passage between Foresta and El Portal in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
We will discuss the history of the road and of this area, from former inhabitants to failed projects, as well as the flora and fauna that we might see along the way. This trip is your chance to see one of the most infrequently visited and most beautiful areas of Yosemite National Park.

The trail that we will follow up is the aptly named Mist Trail, one of the most famous and a must see for anyone who enjoys waterfalls. Bring a light jacket and be ready for the refreshing mist as we rise to the top of Vernal Falls.
The top of the falls makes a great lunch spot and an interesting place to explore. We will return by way of the John Muir Trail, named for one of the most important individuals in the Park’s history. UNOBSTRUCTED VIEWS OF THE VALLEY AND HIGH COUNTRY
Offered in October
The hike to Cloud’s Rest, one of John Muir’s favorite places, is not for the faint of heart. The trail starts near picturesque Tenaya Lake, considered by many to be the gateway to the High Country, and continues south for over six miles to the exposed ridgeline of Cloud’s Rest. The day’s highlight will be the exhilarating half mile up to the 9,900 foot granite summit.
The panorama from the top, free from trees, offers unobstructed views of Half Dome, the Cathedral range and Tenaya Canyon. The view from here is considered by many to be even better than from the top of Half Dome. This trip, due to its length and elevation, will test your endurance, but the rewards are spectacular! Bring your camera, plenty of water, and your sense of adventure as our guides take you up one of Yosemite’s jewels.
